There once was a King who offered a
prize to the artist who would paint
the best picture of peace. Many artists
tried. The King looked at all the pictures, but there were only two he really liked, and he had to choose between them. One picture was of a calm lake. The lake was a perfect mirror for the peaceful towering mountains all around it. Overhead was a blue sky with fluffy white clouds. All who saw this picture thought that it was a perfect picture of peace. The second picture had mountains, too. But these were rugged and bare. Above was an angry sky from which rain fell, and in which lightning played. Down the side of the mountain tumbled a foaming waterfall. This did not look peaceful at all. But when the King looked further, he saw behind the waterfall a tiny bush growing in a crack in the rock. In the plant a mother bird had built her nest. There, in the midst of the rush of angry water, sat the mother bird on her nest... a picture of perfect peace. Which picture won the prize? The King chose the second picture. Why? "Because," explained the King, "peace does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. Peace means to be in the midst of all those things and still be calm in your spirit. That is the real meaning of peace."

I thought this story was thought provoking. When we are going through all the trials and tribulations of life on earth, we need to keep our focus on our King who has promised to give us His peace as we trust in Him!
We are encouraged in Philippians 4:6 to "be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
I hope this message finds you in a peaceful state of mind. If you are not experiencing the peace of God in your life, be encouraged by God's promise of peace as you prayerfully lift up your situation to Him.
Peace with God comes from a proper understanding that Jesus died on the cross, taking the penalty for our sins upon Himself, so that we could receive forgiveness of our sins and the gift of eternal life through faith in Jesus! Having assurance of God's forgiveness and love for us brings peace. The scriptures tell us that:
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear: because fear has torment. He that fears is not made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us." 1John 4:18-19
If you have understood that Jesus died in your place and have already received His gift of eternal life, Praise the Lord!!
If not, why not receive Him right now and find the peace of God that passes all understanding?
We encourage you to refer to the LIFEQUEST "Food for Thought" topics of Salvation and Gospel which will further explain what He has done for you, how much God loves you and show you how to receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord.
God bless you and have a great day!
