Martha Jamieson & James Govan


Martha JAMIESON was born May 19 1805 / chr May 26 1805 in Stonehouse Lanark,
the daughter of James JAMIESON & Isabell GRAY
who had married Jul 4 1804 in Stonehouse Lanark Scotland.

At this point in time, I know nothing about James GOVAN's ancestry
except that on his death certificate, he is listed as being born 1798.

Martha & James had 10 children:

1) John b abt 1821
John was listed as age 49 in 1870 on his mother Martha's death certificate.
He did not go to Australia with his family
but supposedly went to America as a young man
and contact with his parents ceased during the Civil War.

2) Isabella b abt 1823
Isabella is listed as 47 yrs old in 1870 on her mother's death certificate.
She did not go to Australia with her family
and nothing is known about her at this point.

3) Ann b Nov 13 1827 in Gorbals Lanark
died Jun 14 1886 in Melbourne Australia
Emigrated with sister Marion in 1852 aboard the ship 'Boomerang'
married to Edward BRADY on Nov 22 1853
in the Scots Church Manse Melbourne Australia (8 children)
(Edward was the son of Peter BRADY & Catherine FARRELLY)

4) Marion Waugh (Menie or Minnie) b May 2 1829 in Gorbals Lanark
died Jan 17 1903 in Melbourne
Emigrated with sister Ann in 1852 aboard the ship 'Boomerang'
married to William John SPEED on Dec 5 1853 (13 children)
(William was the son of William SPEED and Eliza RUSSELL)

died 1916 in Melbourne Victoria Australia
married to Malcolm CARMICHAEL in 1859 (5 children)
