Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey

by Susan Wojciechowski

The Christmas Mircle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski is a 1998-99 Hoosier Award Nominee for Fourth through Sixth Grades.

Jonathan Toomey doesn't say "Bah HumBug!" about Christmas; he says "Pish-Posh!" Jonathan Toomey will remind you of Ebenezer Scrooge in many ways. After the death of his wife and baby, Jonathan becomes a very unemotional person. It isn't until he meets little Thomas McDowell and his widowed mother that he allows himself to feel happiness again. He becomes transformed like the square pieces of wood he carves into prized possessions.

Rating: 5 stars

This is a Christmas story that can be read year round. Even though it is a Hoosier Award Nominee for Grades 4 through 6, children and adults of all ages will totally enjoy this book. My parents and Kirsten have all read it several times. It is only available in hardback, but it is worth the additional amount. You can purchase The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey through Amazon.
