Alphabet City

by Stephen T. Johnson

Alphabet City by Stephen T. Johnson is a 1997-1998 Hoosier Nominee for Kindergarten through Third Grade, and is a 1996 Caldecott Honor Book.

This book is a collection of paintings by the author. One day when he was walking in a city he started to notice the capital letters being formed in parts of the city, like the A in a sawhorse and the Z in a fire escape staircase. He then looked for capital letters every where in a city and painted the scenes.

Rating: 4 stars!

Actually, both Kirsten and I liked this book. It is more than an alphabet book because it teaches us to be more observant of our surroundings. Even our parents were interested in finding the letters in his paintings, so we think most everyone would enjoy this book. It can be purchased through Amazon!
