Child of the Wolves

by Elizabeth Hall

Child of the Wolves is a 1998-99 Hoosier Award Nominee for Fourth to Sixth grades.

Granite is a Syberian husky who runs away from his home and ends up in the cold Alaskan wilderness. He finds things much different here in the wilderness and must learn a new way of survival. Granite meets up with a very hungry wolverine and then a bear. Just as you think Granite might not escape the treacherous forest animals, along comes Snowdrift. Snowdrift is a large white wolf, who just lost her newborn puppies. She befriends Granite and helps him to become accepted by the wolf pack.

Rating: Five Stars

I love adventures and especially like reading about survival in the wilderness. Even though Granite is a dog, there were lessons to learn in keeping safe in unknown environments. I would really recommend this book to anyone who loves adventures and to learn about the wilderness. It can be purchased at Amazon.
