Falling Up

by Shel Silverstein

Falling Up by Shel Silverstein is a 1997-98 Hoosier Award Nominee for 4th through 6th Grades.

Shel Silverstein is known for his silliness in poems. They are actually quite humorous. It is hard for me to know how to review this book, so I am going to share one of the many poems that I think are my favorites in the book.

Writer Waiting

Oh this shiny new computer ---
There just isn't nothin' cuter.
It knows everything the world ever knew.
And with this great computer
I don't need no writin' tutor,
'Cause there ain't a single thing that it can't do.
It can sort and it can spell,
It can punctuate as well.
It can find and file and underline and type.
It can edit and select,
It can copy and correct,
So I'll have a whole book written by tonight
(Just as soon as it can think of what to write).

Rating:

Except for some of the poems that I didn't like because of their topics, there are some great poems in this book. You can purchase Falling Up through Amazon!
