A Regular Flood of Mishap

by Eve Bunting

A Regular Flood of Mishap by Tom Birdseye is a 1997-98 Hoosier Award Nominee for Kindergarten through Third Grade.

This book is funny, funny, funny! Ima Bean is running away from home. Why? Well, it's a long story, but she'd "gone and broke Grandpaw Bean's fishing pole . . . and let Hester the mule out . . . and tore down Mama's clothesline . . . and broke Brother Chili Bean's bike even worse than it was . . . and dumped those cabbages and carrots and 'taters and 'maters . . . and run Sister Pinto Bean and Grandpaw Bean and the family apples off the road. It's a terrible mess, a regular flood of mishap."

Rating: 5 stars!

Poor Ima Bean! The very best thing the author has to say (even though the old down-home talkin' will keep you in stitches) is that "in my family, you're always family . . . even when you goof!" Everybody makes mistakes and sometimes we think the people that matter most won't love us any more. That isn't so! They may not love what we do, but they still love us!
