Peruda Sowders Pension Records, Application No. 333.480 11/14/79 Letter from Peruda Sowders to Commissioner of Pensions, D.C. enclosing application. R.F. Payne of Whitely County, Kentucky and Benager Harp of Knox County, Kentucky witnessed the application 11/11/79, the Knox Co., KY Magistrate W.W. Powell, Jr. J.P. 6/80 letter from Peruda Sowders to Commissioner of Pensions, D.C. with evidence 6/80 Whitely County Justice of the Peace identified Peruda Sowders as a resident of Belle County and added that 5 years before Peruda enlisted he was a farmer and his Post Office address was G(?)oalstons Store, Whitley County, Kentucky and that he resided on Clere fork [sic] in Belle Co., Kentucky. Since discharge his occupation has been of a retired nature or very light farming as far as his abilities would permit. 6/28/81 -Peruda Sowders was told to report to Dr. Day for examination. Surgeons Certificate, 11/26/81, Tazewell, Tennessee, Claiborne County. Petitioner is 50 years old, 5'8", 134 pounds, dark complexion, no evidence of rheumatism, no enlargement of joints or local atrophy of limbs, not very well nourished, pain in hip and knee. Signed by James A. Day 10/6/82 - Surgeon Generals Office reported that Peruda Sowders was admitted to Regimental Hospital at Camp Nelson, KY on October 24, 1863 with chronic rheumatism and transferred November 25, 1863 ... entered convalescence Camp, Camp Nelson, KY on November 25, 1863. Diagnosis not shared and was transferred November 28, 1863. No record of the Reg. on file. 2/20/83 Directed to report to Dr. Sam. M(W?) Love in Tazewell for examination. 8/23/87 Rejected claim abandoned for 5 years [Even I don't understand this note I wrote] 9/3/1887 Peruda Sowders, P.O.
