Hannah Sowder was married to Jefferson Sowder on the 22nd of April 1842 in this county – continued his wife until the 12th of June 1854 – during the marriage he purchased & died siezed in fee of the following lands, to wit - . . .<land descriptions> . . . (cotenants in which last tract are And. J. Martin – John Martin age 17 yrs (a minor) & Geo. Garrison & wife Malinda in right of his wife.) Which were all his lands he owned – and the same were acquired by the joint labor of said Jefferson & Hannah – said Jefferson left at his death by a former marriage the following children to wit, <Harrison Souder is crossed out>, Permelia who has intermarried with Zachariah Price (live in Shelby Co.), Nancy who had married to Richard Price – (live in Shelby Co.) Sarah Ann Souder (lives in Lawrence Co.) – Polly Ann Rich, married to Joseph Rich (live in Sullivan Co.) Margaret – married to Alexander Hawkins (live in Lawrence Co.) Robert M. Sowder (lives in Lawrence Co.) William S. Sowder (lives in Lawrence Co.) Elizabeth A. – wife of Eugene Piersall (live in Lawrence Co.) – by marriage with said Hannah he left the following children & heirs – to wit, Nancy Jane (10 yrs), Joseph M (9 yrs), Thomas E (5 yrs) and Eli F. (5 yrs) and Eliza Jane (3 yrs) and Henry J. (5 mos) (living in Lawrence Co.) – the latter being minors – Besides the above he left grand children heirs of Harrison a son of his first marriage as follows – Jane married to John Covey (lives in Lawrence Co.) – Elizabeth wife of Austin Adkins (live in Monroe Co.) Perry Sowder (age 15 yrs) (a minor) (lives in Monroe Co.), Jefferson (age 13 yrs) (a minor) (lives in Monroe Co.) and Permela Souder (age 11 yrs.) (a minor) (lives in Monroe Co.) She asks partition according to law. She had dower in the 48 acre tract which she asks to have assigned to her.
