Medieval Fair

One team of seventh graders had a Medieval Fair at our school. They studied the Middle Ages, wrote reports, created Middle Ages newspapers and biographies and topped off the unit with the fair. Students in band became minstrels paying at a banquet in one room. The science teacher had the students build catapults and a small castle and the students got the chance to storm the castle by slinging ping pong balls at it. One room became a market place with a blacksmith shop, a monk illuminating books, and stalls selling cheese, bread and cider. I helped out in the game room where they played chess and backgammon, arm wrestled, and tried to bite a doughnut while blindfolded. A number of students as well as the teachers dressed the part. We had a great time and gave the rest of the school a chance to see what the students had been studying. Here are a few pictures:
