Betsy Adrina Olsen

Adrina Olsen was my Great Great Grandmother. She was born in Borre Sogn JL in 1846. She was married but lost her husband to the sea. Their children, all born in Horten, Norway were: Kristine O Olsen b. 11/27/1882; Betsy Olsen b. 1884; and Thomas Kolbjorn Olsen b. 1888.

Kristine O Olsen immigrated to the United States approximately in 1904. She married John S. Olsen in 1907. John S Olsen was born 6/30/1883 in Bergen, Norway. As a child he was farmed out and resided with a family outside of Bergen, Norway. He went to the Merchant Marine College and immigrated to the United States approximately in 1903. He was a Merchant Marine for most of his life, serving in War World II on a Merchant Ship delivering fuel to the troops.  Their child born in Baltimore, Maryland was: Betsey Adrina Olsen b. 8/11/1911 d. 8/8/1996. Betsey Adrina married Birger Ludvigsen in Oslo, Norway. Birger Ludvigsen was born in Oslo, Norway on 8/28/1908 and died in Baltimore, MD on 3/1978.

I cherish my Norwegian heritage and all that it holds. The only treasure I seek now, is the day that I may go to Norway to see my grandparents homeland.
