Charles Mylecharane followed his father's interest in farming and in hotels, ably assisted by his wife Mary.  Mary's parent's Hugh and Christina Campbell nee McLean, arrived on the "Brilliant" from Scotland and became pioneers of Brundah and Hartley.  Mary and Charles resided at Belarbigall whilst many of the family settled around Bathurst.  Two years after Charles death Mary married James Cogdon.

From Lake Family History by Kath Johnson (nee Lake) 1989.

It appears Charles adopted more or less the undertakings of his father as a means of earning a living, the keeping of Inns in various localities in New South Wales.

One such Inn situated at the junction of the Pinnacle Road with the main Grenfell-Forbes Road was known as "Nags Head Inn."  How it acquired this name has not been established, however, one story passed down to later generations gives the origin of the name as being that the publican's wife had a head like a horse, and was forever nagging.
