FREDRICKSBURG NEWSPAPER, JULY 3, 1930.

As we go to press we learn of the death of Mrs. Susan Craine which occurred at her home here on Tuesday evening, July 1st, at the age of 81 years, 3 months, and 5 days.  In her early life she came with her parents to Iowa.  On November 12, 1863, she was united in marriage at New Hampton to John M. Craine.  To  this union 5 children were born, all who survive her.  Eighteen years ago they moved to their present home in Fredricksburg where her husband preceeded her in death, March 27, 1915.  Their early married life was spent on a farm in Breamer County.  She leaves to mourn her loss the following children:  Mrs. Minnie Farnum, Mrs. Abbie O'Day, and Miss Ella Craine of Fredricksburg, Mrs. Susan Pratt of Plainfield, Iowa, and Laurence Craine of Randall, Minnesota, also other relatives and a host of friends.  A few years ago she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip which necessitated her sitting down most of the time.  Although a great sufferer she always met those who called on her, with a pleasant smile and happy greeting, never complaining.  She had been failing for some time but in the last week had gone down very fast until death relieved her suffering.  The funeral was held this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 at the home, Rev. C.E. Brandt of Waverly officiating.
