Meet The Boys
Sinbad's Story
Sinbad is a 13 year old domestic white short hair. My husband found Sinbad in a garbage dumpster behind a beer store.  When he brought him home we had no idea of Sinbad's age, colouring, or health. In fact we had doubts he would live to see another day. Sinbad as he was later called due to his adventurous spirit, was taken immediately to the vet's office. After cleaning him up from weeks of filth we were surprised to discover he was snow white! We also learned that he was 4 months old. Sinbad was suffering from ear mites, fleas, and was dangerously under weight. It was obvious this poor little fellow had had a rough start in life.  At this point I was already so smitten with him that there was never any doubt that we had found our beloved pet. Sinbad as you will see from his photo's is now a healthy, large  feline. over the years he has brought us tremendous joy, laughter, and yes some anguish too. You see when he was 7 he was hit by a car outside of our home. After much heartache, and literally thousands in vet bills, he made an almost full recovery. The accident has left him permanently blind in one eye. He is no longer allowed unescorted outside, nor is Hercules who's story follows. Some people may view this as cruel. I view it as a protective mama who now realizes the dangers to cats left to roam on their own.
Hercules' Story
Hercules was born June 6, 1999. He is a playful, black and white domestic short hair. Hercules was born to a stray, who gave birth under my neighbour's porch. My neighbour took it upon herself to care for the litter of 6 as their mother unexplicably abandoned them. It makes me very sad to think of what may have become of her. I also want to mention that my neighbour took this incredible task upon herself during a time of great personal sorrow.  Her husband had recently, and unexpectedly passed away. When Hercules was 6 weeks he came to live with us. My Dad had also recently passed away, and Hercules's  loving nature, and crazy antics aided us all in coping. Sinbad was not too impressed with our new family member in the beginning. In fact I worried that their both being males was going to pose some problems. On top of that Sinbad has always been grumpy by nature. He is also very protective us. There is good reason for why some of our friends have dubbed him the "pit bull of cats".  However my concerns were unfounded. After about two weeks the boys became best buddies, and have been inseperable ever since...:)
As a family we have been blessed with the addition of our two feline boys. They have enriched our lives by giving us the gift of unconditional love. Since this site is primarily about the importance of family, and family history, I would have been remiss not to include this page. The boys are most definately an important part of our family. They too are lucky. Despite having both started their lives under difficult circumstances, they were both fortunate in finding a loving, responsible home. Thousands of  domestic animals are not so lucky. While not wanting to sound preachy, I must stress the importance of spaying or neutering your pets. Sinbad and Hercules were both neutered at 6 months. This has made them happier, and healthier. Please consider having your pet fixed if you haven't already done so. This is the only way you can prevent adding to the misery and suffering already endured by the unwanted pet population. I challenge anyone to visit a large city shelter, and not leave with a deep sense of saddness.... despite the dedication of it's employee's and volunteers. In closing I would like to thank you for taking the time to meet our  boys. They both send you a big "MEEEEOOOOW"
