Wesley Blevins resided in Ashe County and enlisted in Company K, in Iredell County at the age of 20 on August 15, 1862. He was wounded in the battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863) and returned to duty in September - October, 1863. He was reported absent without leave on February 10, 1865. Private Blevins is buried in the Senter Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashe County, North Carolina.
