Last Will and Testament

In the name of God, Amen. The twenty eight day in the Year of Our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy two, I William Knotts of Queen Annes County in the Province of Maryland planter being very sick and weak in body, of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God therefor do make and ordain this day my last will and testament, that is to say, first of all, I give and recommend my soul unto the hands of Almighty that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a Christian like manner at the decoration of my Executrix and as taking such worldly Estate wherewith hath pleased Almighty God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the manner and form following: I give and bequeath unto my son Nathaniel Knotts all my tract of land called Knotts Ride and the second Knotts Range the third Knotts Addition and Joseph's Hope upon which I now live and lying in Queenanns (sic) County aforesaid the beginning line at at hall Millston lying at Fisher's Meadow on the north side, to my son to be held and freely possessed by him and his heir forever. Whereas my loving wife Elizabeth Knotts the said land she now lives upon during during her widowhood, Lastly I constitute make and ordain my aforesaid loving wife Elizabeth to be whole and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke, and disannul all other Wills, Testaments and Bequests and legacies and Executors before this time named and appointed ratify in and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament, In Witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day and year above written.
