Kristi Yamaguchi has received


1999: During the 1999 Minneapolis, Minnesota stop of the Stars on Ice tour, Kristi is inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.

1998: "Sonja Henie Award" from the "Edi" Awards at the third annual International Awards Gala. This award is given to the female professional skater who has brought recognition to the sport in a positive and favorable manner. The other nominees were: Peggy, Fleming, Rosalynn Sumners and Katarina Witt.

1998: Inducted into the U.S. Figure Skating Association Hall of Fame during the National Championships in Philadelphia.

1998: One of the "Asian American Hall of Famers" at the US Pan Asian American Chamber of Commerce.

1996-1998: Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Award for Favorite Female Athlete

1997: Honored with the "Bridge Builder" Asian American Leadership Award. This award given by "A Magazine", the largest Asian American publication in the U.S., is presented each year to individuals who have inspired Asian-American youth through their leadership and example.

1997: Kristi is the second "Most Admired Female Athlete" in a survey conducted by Sponsorship Research Int'l asking 1000 people to name the male and female athletes they most admired. The top three ladies were: Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Kristi Yamaguchi and Nancy Kerrigan. The top three males were: Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Michael Johnson.

1997: Kristi is one of the four athletes on the top 100 celebrities lists complied by the People-Yankelovich Pop Monitor profiles. The other sports figures are football player Emmitt Smith, baseball slugger Ken Griffey Jr. and basketball player Grant Hill.

1996: Skater of the Year from American Skating World

1996: Kristi was one of the skaters to leave her "shoe print" in cement for remembrance at the Campbell's U.S. Figure Skating Walk of Fame in Colorado Springs. This event was held to mark the 75th anniversary of the U.S. Figure Skating Association. Other participants were Nancy Kerrigan, Nicole Bobek and Michelle Kwan.

1995: Kristi is chosen as one of the "Top 100 Olympic Champions in History" by the USOC and the U.S. Olympic Alumni Association.
(Other figure skaters on the list include: Carol Heiss Jenkins, Tenley Albright Blakely, Dick Button and Dorothy Hamill)

1992-1990: "Sullivan Award Finalist"

1992: "Outstanding Citizen" from the Japanese American Citizens League

1992: Voted as one of the "Top Ten Best-Mannered People of 1992" by the National League of Junior Cotillions based in Charlotte, West Virginia. Barbara Bush heads the lists followed by Arthur Ashe, Queen Elizabeth II, Kristi Yamaguchi, Peter Jennings, Joe Montana, Oprah Winfrey, Billy Graham, General Colin Powell and singer Amy Grant.

1990: "Outstanding Asian American" from the National Chinese American Woman's Business Organization and the Pan Asian Chamber of Commerce

1989: "Athlete of the Year for Figure Skating" from the US Olympic Committee

1989: "Artistic Up and Coming Athlete of the Year" from the Woman's Sports Foundation

1989: "Giving 100% Award" from NutraSweet

1989: "Athlete of the Week" from ABC Network

1989: "Amateur Skater of the Year" from Skating Magazine
