Also wanted to share a sock idea I have used. Being in need of doll socks
for an outfit I took a pair of infant girl socks (0-6 month size) that I
usually always have some on hand. They fit fine through the heel and leg,
just way too long in the toe/foot area. I serged off the end of the sock.
Then I used a coordinating crochet thread and crocheted a little edging
around the cuff of the sock -- like you would do for a baby! Very cute.

From Debbie H.

I keep these socks and make doll socks from the tops
of them. My son's white crew sox make the nicest
socks for the AG dolls. I can do a pair of socks for
the dolls out of one sock top. Some of the tops are
longer than others and you can make them thigh high
if you want to and like was mentioned they look just
like tights when a pair of bloomers are put on over
them. I never buy doll socks at all anymore. Best of
all when doing this, they are free. (a very good price)

Also when it comes
to using socks for things, they can also be used for
legwarmers. On quite a few of my cloth doll patterns,
it shows them wearing legwarmers. I have a frog
pattern that will be wearing sock legwarmers after I
get around to making it. Years ago my mother dressed
a doll using the cuff of a sock for a turtleneck on a
shirt, it looked really cute.
