Just invented a neat way to keep my spools together by color. Course,
Martha might not approve of the structure & decor, but hey, IT WORKS.
Start buying your can drinks in the cardboard boxes that hold 12 cans.
Don't let the kids, hubbies, lovers, Guineapigs, GOLDEN RETRIEVERS get hold
of the cartons and tear them apart. YOU DO IT.
Cut the carton apart following the opening in the top cover. Cut it all the
way down on the 2 sides and across the bottom. You now have 2 boxes. DO NOT
OPEN THE BOX WHERE IT IS SEALED. Pick up one of the cutapart boxes and
measure up 1 3/4" from the sealed bottom, on all 4 sides, making two
markings on each side. (Martha would do this to get all the sides even).
With a black marking pen draw the 4 lines across 4 sides of the box. Grab a
bum pair of scissors and cut neatly on the lines. (Martha would do this).
You now have a neat box that is 1 3/4" tall & the bottom is STILL nicely
sealed.
Repeat the same steps on the other box. VOILA, 2 boxes.
These 2 boxes will each hold 15 spools of thread, like C & C. I stuck a
label on each of the short ends of the boxes and wrote the color. I gotta
guzzel some more Diet Coke to get more boxes, but, they stack easy on a
shelf, don't take up much room & thread is kept cleaned. All my reds are
together,greens, blues. GOT IT??
EACH BOX IS REALLY USING THE TOPS OF THE THREAD SPOOLS FOR BOTTOM SUPPORT!!
Because I have C & C, that is the reason for the 1 3/4" 'wall' around the
spools. If you use a taller spool, then cut it SLIGHTLY under the height of
the spool.
OK, ready, set GO..
See what you get for free on this list!!!
