Poems - My Hajj - ( Mumtaz M.Khaki -Mombasa, Kenya)

MY HAJJ

M any a year, how I wished I could go,
Y et every time, I was asked to have patience so.

H ark ! Finally, the call has come for me,
A lmighty Allah has chosen this year for my hajj to be.
J oyfully I reply, " Labbaik, my Master ",
J ust as You commanded, I faithfully answer.

T here is excitement in my every action,
H appily, I prepare for the journey ahead,
E ndlessly thinking of my Holy destination.

U ntil I reach, there is restlessness in my heart,
L ove for the Lord threatens to overcome me, in part.
T hen finally the day, the time, has come to be,
I am there, blessed with the sight - the Ka'aba in all it's glory.
M oved to tears, overcome with inexpressable feeling,
A ll is gone from the mind save the awe of just… being.
T here is no way I can even remember what I wished to say.
E ntering the Haram, tears rolling down, "Labbaik", is all I can say

J oined as one, mankind, just following the command of Allah,
O ver the days, all go from the plains of Arafah to Muzdalifa.
U nder the skies I contemplate, Who am I and What do I want to be ?
R eaching Mina, by throwing the stones,
N ow I feel cleansed of sin - just like a new-born baby,
E ternal thanks I give, to the Creator who showed me the way,
Y esss !! This is true HAJJ ! - and this time I've done it - finally !!!!
