CHAPTER HISTORY


 Stars and Stripes Chapeter, NSDAR was organized January 23, 1897 by Miss Edith Ray Crapo. The charter was granted on April 28, 1897.

Charter members included Miss Edith Ray Crapo, Mrs. Jessica Childs Jones, Mrs. Sarah M. Wilkinson, Mrs. Alice Beaman Carpenter, Mrs. Catherine McNeal Chittenden, Mrs. Martha Ciley Elder Illick, Miss Abbie MacFlinn, Miss Charlotte E. MacFlinn, Miss Emma Adeline Millard, Miss Ruth Dunham Carpenter, Miss Jessie May Frick, Miss Ruth Carter Sherfey, Miss Carrie J. Tucker, Miss Caroline U. Stivers, Mrs. Hanna Bell Barker, Miss Elizabeth Heywood, Miss Harriet Lane, Miss Martha Lane, Mrs. Alice Little, Mrs. Mabel Millard, Mrs. Julia Shelton, and Mrs. Cora Poor Millard.

On April 28, 1997, Stars and Stripes Chapter, NSDAR, celebrated it's 100th Anniversary. A special program was presented symbolizing the beginnning of our chapter including a dramatization of the organizational meeting, music from the period, and poetry recitation of the work of Miss Edith Ray Crapo, organizing regent. Many NSDAR dignitaries were in attendance as well as descendants from several of the charter member's families.
