My Home Page: Shahzad Bashir

Hello fellow Internet surfer and welcome to my home page. I'm very glad that you made it this far . . . and I hope that you'll stick around long enough to get to know just a little bit more about me and my life. After all, these days, acquaintances that begin in cyberspace are often the most real, vivid, and long-lasting - and maybe that will be true of us. So here is my photograph to begin with.

My Background

I was born in Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan, on the 24th of December, 1974. I was my parent's first child and hence received a lot of love and care in my childhood. Following me was my sister in 1977 and my brother in 1982. Now, my sister is married and my brother is doing O'levels from Beaconhouse School System. My father is engaged in textiles export business since 1973 and my mother is a dedicated and loving housewife.

I feel very proud to be born in a Muslim family. I'm not very religious but I like to follow the basic foundations of Islam My family is quite religious, my brother is Hafiz-ul-Quran and my mother teaches Quran at our home.

And, before we go any further, just in case (not that I'm looking to get hired, but - just
in case you ARE my big break), here's my resume.

My Interests

I guess that the best - and fastest - way to really get to know me
is by discovering what I like. So here goes . . .
I love to swim, play squash, and surf the net.
I am crazy about computers. I always keep my PC(s) and myself updated and thanks to "Intel" that's where half of my allowance goes.

I adore movies - especially romantic love stories. Pretty Woman, Braveheart and an Indian movie "Dilwale Dulhanya Le Jaenge" are my favorites.

I'm am an avid reader though I prefer business books and periodicals.

Me and Myself

I am 5 feet & 10 inches tall. I turned 23 on December 24, 1997 and my zodiac star is Capricorn. I am not married but I am engaged to my cousin since 10th August, 1997. She lives in Karachi, a student of home economics. Presently, I am in the final year of the MBA program at Lahore University of Management Sciences, (LUMS). I am a Muslim and a Pakistani and I am very proud about it.

I am social, friendly and interesting. I am short tempered but soft at heart and I like to govern people, which is not very good though. I am agressive, and I always want a change. I like to work hard and I am also appreciated. I like spending time with my family.

My Achievements

My acedamic life started from Sacred Heart School, Lahore where I studied till 3rd grade. After that, I went to St. Anthony's High School, Lahore, from where I did my Matriculation in 1990. I did my F.Sc in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics from Crescent Model Higher Secordary School, Lahore, in 1992. Finally, I did Bachelors in Commerce in 1995 from Hailey College of Commerce, University of the Punjab, Lahore. I hope to graduate in MBA from Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore, in June 1998.

I was running my own business when I joined Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) in August 1996, to pursue my MBA. My business activities included airconditioning and computerisation. I started this business with the help of my father and uncle just when I finished high school but continued my studies as well. Even before completing high school, I worked as a sales manager with an electronics firm in Karachi and as an administration manager in my father's weaving factory. After successfully completing my first year at LUMS, I worked with CITIBANK N.A. as management intern in the operations department. My resume gives a more detailed picture of my work experiences.
