Calli

Calli was a beautiful, precious cat and a joy to own. She will forever be sorely missed. Her loss left a hole in all of our hearts that can never be replaced.
Calli was born in August of 1991, the "surprise" kitten of Jolie's litter of 5. (Just when we thought she'd had them all, cleaned her off and put her and the babies in a new, clean box...out popped Calli!) Even as a kitten she possessed a rare beauty and an arrogant attitude. Calli was gorgeous, and she knew it!
She was truly Mom's cat more than anyone else's. "The Little Princess", as we called her, slept with Mom at night and followed her around all day helping her with the chores. She was very picky about keeping herself clean and washed herself frequently. The only cat she truly liked was her mother, and she and Jolie would wash each other some nights. Calli loved to lay on Mom's stomach or chest, especially when Mom was feeling bad. But, her favorite place to lay was in front of the gas heater in Mom and Dad's room. There wasn't many winter days that she moved two feet from in front of that thing...only to eat and use the bathroom.
It wasn't like she didn't have enough fur to keep her warm! Calli was a mixture of dark - light greys and her fur was long and beautiful. Her green eyes seemed to hold the certainty that she was Queen and she always walked with her chin up and tail high. I often said that Calli must've been a queen or a princess in a former life, because she acted as if her blood was nothing less than royal.
Yet, for all of her arrogance (and she had plenty!), she was very loving; especially to those that she liked and deemed worthy of her love. She had more character than most cats I know and she was a jewel to us all.
Calli was the only surviving member of Jolie's litter; she outlived them all. Sadly, we lost her at the age of 5 years, in April 1996.
She was hit by a car in front of our house. Unfortunately, she did not die but was found by Mom minutes later. This cat was like a child to Mom, and all of you being faithful cat lovers yourselves, you can imagine how this affected her (she still cries about it to this day.) She rushed Calli to the vet, but she died as they tried to help her. We came home to Mom crying, and it was a terrible day for us all.
Calli had more life and spunk in her than most cats, and she forever lives on in our hearts and minds as our "Little Princess".
