This site is wonderful!!! I've been doing some family research, and the information I've found here has been very helpful. My grandmother was born Helen Hester Norwood in Rockport, Mass. around 1892; I believe she was the youngest child of William Norwood. I think I've accurately traced her lineage from Francis, based on town records, but I'll gladly welcome any information nyone might have to share. (And I'm happy to share what I have with anyone who asks.)

I am believed to be a great grandson of William Wesley Norwood, grandson of Charles Edgar Norwood, son of Carl Anth ny Norwood, Sr. I seem to be a missing link for Charles Edgar Norwood who left Nelson, Nuckolls Co., Nebraska, in approximately 1915 and settled in Pascagoula, Mississippi, until he died in 1947. Found your site very interesting, and of course I'm interested in finding which immigrant ancestor Norwood I came from. My father was Charles Maxwell Norwood, born in Flint Texas, Feb. 10, 1912, and died June 24, 1998. His father was George W. Norwood b rn July 20, 1876 and died January 26, 1958. George was married to Mattie Southerland, my grandmother. It's beleived that George's family came from Georgia. My grandfather was also a veteran of the Spanish American War. If anyone has additional information on this line of Norwoods please send an email to me. Thank you.

We are new at this and have traced back to a John Norwood (who was born in 1818 and died in 1862) and married Mary (who was born in 1818 and died in 1868). They are both buried in Coffee County, Alabama. Their son is Daniel R. Norwood (born in 1854 in A abama). His Grandson is Gus Norwood (born in 1877 in Alabama and died in 1938 in Alabama). Gus is also my Grandfather. If anyone has any information about this line, we would love to hear it.

My great grandfather came from England with Lord Baltimore, settling in Maryland. My grandfather, William Norwood was raised in Maryland but moved to California early in the century. He ranched in Visalia and Built homes in Pasadena, Altadena and San Mar no. He had 4 sons, William, John, Thomas and Richard and 1 daughter, Alice. My father Richard is the only living descendent of that family. He was born in Visalia December, 1918.
