Caleb Norwood, son of Francis of Gloucester, born 1685, died 1739

married 1709 - Alice Donnell (1687-c1763), dau of Samuel, granddau of Henry. She m (2) 1749,
Rev. John White - Gloucester

Occupation - As a young man he came from Gloucester, Mass to work in Samuel Donnell’s
tavern, and in 1708 married the boss's daughter

Samuel Donnell bought the inn of Nicholas Davis, where the Royal Justices stayed
in 1668.

Caleb probably did not settle in York. In his will written in 1735, he is of Boston,
Innholder, and all the property he left was in Gloucester. No mention of York in his
wills. His son, Gustavus was probably the first Norwood to actually settle in York.

Caleb, when in York, lived on the road lweading to Stage Neck, York Harbor - the
oldest road in York. Sam Donnell built a tavern and garrison, still standing (at this
writing),

Henry D. Norwood, 1813-1882, a son of Nathaniel.. In 1837 Henry married Mary Parsons,
1817-1908, dau of Samuel. Henry was a farmer living at York Harbor. Henry and Mary had a son
John E., 1838-1920 who in 1866 married Ellen L Schofield, 1842-1924 (of Morristown, VT). It is
reported that John and Ellen did not have children. Henry and Mary also had a daughter Lucy E.,
1844-1936, who married George H. Whiting, 1840-1899.

Gustavus Norwood, son of Caleb married Mary Milbury in 1742. Mary died in 1819. She was a
dau. of Samuel. A Bragdon diary states widow Mary Norwood died Dec. 20, 1819 at age 99.
Gustuvus was an Innkeeper and lived at York Harbor. Gustavus and Mary Norwood had the
following children; Samuel, 1743-1819, married Mary Raynes; Alice, 1745- ?; Gustavus
(sometimes Augustus), 1748- ?; Sarah, 1751- ?, married Silas Derby, 1745- ?

Samuel Norwood, 1743-1819, son of Gustavus and Mary (Milbury) Norwood. In 1769 Samuel
married Mary Raynes. Samuel was an Innkeeper and farmer. He inherited half of the Norwood
farm in 1777 (deeds 52-112). Samuel and Mary had the following children; Gustavus (sometimes
Augustus), 1770- ?; Lucy Jane, 1773- ?; Nathaniel, 1777-1849, married (1) Joanna Donnell, (2)
Jemima, 1777-1849; Elizabeth (Betsey), 1781- ? unmarried; Sally, 1785- ?

Jemina Donnell, 1777-1849 (Donnell line- Nathaniel-Jemema-Nathaniel-Col.
Nathaniel-Samuel-Henry. Nathaniel Norwood was an Innkeeper and farmer. Nathaniel’s children;
Charles, wife not listed, had dau. Abbie Marion; Francis R., 1805-1886 (in 1860 &1870 census he
was a member of Samuel’s household); William D., 1807-1892, married (1) Eliza Pierce,
1815-1850, (2) Mrs. Mary (Cuzner) Lunt, 1811-1895, dau of William W. and Addie (Roberts)
Cuzner. William was a farmer and lived at York Beach. William was the father of Leonora F.,
1836-1853 and Franklin H., 1838-1860; Samuel, 1808-1889; Mary Jane, 1811-1895, married (1)
? Bell, (2) William Donnell; Henry D., 1813-1882, married Mary Parsons

Samuel Norwood, 1808-1889 son of Nathaniel. Wife not listed. They lived at York Harbor. His
children; Helen E., 1842- ?, married 1862 Elias Baker, 1828-1923, son of Nathaniel & Elizebth
(Voudy) Baker; and Anna J., 1846- ?, married ? Sylvester, son of Edward J.

Mary Jane Norwood, 1811-1895, daughter of Nathaniel. Married Capt. John Bell and then
married William Donnell, 1807- ?. Mary Jane’s children; (Donnell) Leander, 1854-1924, married
Adeline Plaistaid, 1856- ?. Leander and Adeline were the parents of Arthur Lee, 1878-1892;
Christie May, 1884- ?, married Fred Young of Turner Center, Maine; and Henry (Norwood -
middle name) (known as "Norwood") 1886-1964, unmarried
