HANNAH Cox. March 12, 1774. HANNAH COX of Charlestown, SC, widow, to Richard Hutson of said town, planter, for L3000 SC money, 262 acres on James Island in St. Andrews parish, Berkley County, part of a larger plantation of 379 acres granted by the late Lords Proprietors 3 Apr. 1717 to Charles Armstrong (since deceased), which became legally vested in one Charles Odingsell then of James Island (since deceased) who by lease and release 30 & 31 Oct. 1765 conveyed to said Hannah Cox, being on Wappoe Creek adj. lands of said Richard Hutson, lands now in the occupation of one Archibald Scott, lands now or late in the occupation of one William Glenn. signed: Hannah Cox Wit: John Simmons, David Ramsay, Thos Hutson Proved by oath of David Ramsay, Esq. 1 Aug 1786 before Dl. JOHN Cox: Feb 15, 1783. Lewis Lestarjette and Ann Elliott, as attorneys for James Darby of Charlestown to JOHN COX of same state, for yearly rents, tract of lnad on Charlestown Neck on Cooper River commonly called Mount Pleasant, 112 acres on the high road adjacent land now or late of one Mr. McLaughlan, on the marsh of the creek, adjacent land now lease to William Tweed and John Russell, lands belonging to Capt. JOHN COX of the City of Charleston, merchant, and Lambert Lance of the same place, attorney at law, executors of the will of WM Hale of same place, merchant, deceased, to Samuel Jones of City of Charleston, dealer, for 630 guineas, lot on King Street adj. lands of John Wagner, ___ Hoyland, Doctor Alexander Garden, land formerly belonging to Jacob Warley but now to Jacob Cohen, which William Hale directed to be sold by his will dated April 20, 1780. Thomas Snead of Charlestown SC to JOHN COX of Prince Williams parish, planter, for 44 pounds, 2 shillings SC money, 300 acres granted Dec 12, 1768 to said Thomas Snead in Granville co. adjacent C apt. JOHN COX of Charleston, merchant, to William Parker and Edward Blake, Commissioners of the Treasury, by bond dated 16 June 1783 in the penal sum of L7480 sterling money of Great Britain for the payment of L3740, mortgage of lot late the property of James Carsan on South Bay adj. land of Robert McKinsey, and lot adj. land late the property of Zephaniah Kingsley, on Lamboll Street, Legare Street. signed: John Cox Wit: John Berwick, James O'Hear Proved in Charleston District by oath of James O'Hear 2 Oct 1784 before Dl. Oct 5, 1786, JOHN COX of Charleston Neck to Henry Welsh of Charleston, whereas Lewis Lesterjette and Ann Elliott as attornies for James Darby by lease dated 15 FEb 1783 to let unto the said John Cox a parcel of land on Charleston next on Cooper River commonly called Mount Pleasant, 112 acres on the high road adj. land now or late of one McLaughlan, adj. land now leased to William Tweed and John Russell, land belonging to Capt. Robert Cochran, paying yearly rent of L60 sterling in four equal payments at every quarter, and L20 sterling for the hire of two negro men Jemmy and Charles, now said John Cox for 225 guineas to Henry Welsh, assign this lease.
