JULIANNA FARROW Cox, Engelhard, Hyde Co, NC; Julianna Farrow Cox, 95 formerly of Middletown community and a long time resident of Autumnfield of Belhaven, died Wednesday Nov 8 at Pungo District Hospital. A native of Hyde County, she was the daughter of the late George and Dorcas Brooks Cox. Miss Cox was the proprietor of the former Julia Cox Store in Middletown for many years when that post office was open. She was a member of the Hyde Chapter, Order of Eastern Star for more than 50 years, and was a member of Middletown Christian Church. Surviving are four nephews: Thomas B Cox Jr of Elizabeth City, Thad Selby Jr of Engelhard; Jerry Cox of Jacksonvile, FL and Roger Cox of Elizabeth City; two nieces: Dorcas Waller of Great Bridge, VA and Brenda Swyne of Elizabeth City. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, Nov 10 in Middletown Christian Church. The Rev. Albert Stuck, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. LUCY Cox, Engelhard, Hyde Co, NC; Funeral services were held Friday afternoon for Miss Lucy Cox at the Engelhard Methodist Church by the pastor, the Rev. J.A. Williams. Interment was in the Fulford Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Starr Cox, Cecil Silverthorn, Murel Marshall, Allen F Gibbs, Sherwood Selby and Geroge Thomas Gibbs. Miss Cox, age 70, died Thursday morning in Trueblood Rest Home at Durant's Neck, Hertford, Route 3, where she had been livings ince 1958. Miss Cox was a member of the Engelhard Methodist Church. Surviving are one brother, Thomas Cox of Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews. Among the out of town relatives attending were her brother, Thomas Cox and daughter Miss Barbara Cox of Charlotte, Mr and Mrs. Talmadge Ballance and children of Baltimore, Mrs. Mary Ross of Bath and Mrs. Lula Cox and Mr & Mrs Jimmy Cox of Belhaven (From The Coastland Times-Dec 15, 1961)

MALCOLM BRYAN Cox, Swan Quarter, Hyde Co, NC; Malcolm Bryan Cox, 88, of Route 1, died Sunday, March 22 at Cross Creek Health Care Center where he had been a resident for several years. Born in Hyde County on Feb 15, 1910 he was the son of the late Will and Ida Gibbs Cox. He was married to the former Mabel Sewall on April 10, 1936. Mr. Cox worked for many years with the former Quinn-Miller Furniture Store in Swan Quarter. Following his retirement, he worked some time with Pat Spencer's Exxon in Swan Quarter. He was a member of the Swan Quarter Christian Church. Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Christine C Sadler and husband Travis, and Dale C Scott and husband Weldon, both of Washington; and two sisters: Dell C Berry and Willie Murl C Bonner, both of Swan Quarter. His grandchildren include Norman Sadler and wife Shelley, Michael Sadler, Robin Williams and husband Buddy, and Gwen Corey; several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11am Tuesday at the family plot in Soule Cemetery. Raffael Farrow Jr will officiate.
