AARON Cox, 1843-1924; Although not unexpected, the entire community was saddened Saturday morning to learn that another of its aged and respected citizens and Civil War veterans had answered the last summons. Uncle Aaron Cox, as he was familiarly known by his neighbors and friends, passed away that morning at four o'clock. Mr. Cox had been ailing for about a year, but only recently had he been bedfast, during which time he was a patient sufferer, always with a cheerful word for those about him. He was a good citizen, and everyone who knew him counted him as a friend. He lived a life we might all emulate, a life that commanded the respect with all those he came in contact. Aaron Cox who lived in this vicinity since he came to Kansas in 1871, died at his home in this city Oct 25, 1924 after more than a year's illness. He was 81 years, 5 months, and 9 days of age, having been born in Wilmington, Ohio May 16, 1843. Nancy Ann Murrell became his wife at port Madison, Ohio June 27, 1862. A few weeks later on August 1st, he became a private in Company D, 79th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry of the Union Army and sered until the close of the war. Five sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Cox: William B; John F; Charles E; Edward N; and James R, of whom all are living except John, whose death occurred in Dec 1916. Mr. Cox's home was broken up Nov 13,1898 by the death of his wife. After several lonely years he again established a home when he was married to maggie Hulsey Aug 17, 1904. To them were born two children, Aaron and Mildred. Besides his wife and children, Mr. Cox is survived by sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. G.W. "Bill" Cox, 1900-1992; G.W. "Bill" Cox, 1900-1992, passed away July 9, 1992. Bill was in law enforcement in Wapanucka, Stringtown and Tishomingo. He & Myrtle operated a dry good store in Wapanucka for many years. They retired and lived in Carney before moving to Midwest City. He was a dedicated Christian man who loved the Lord and his church. He loved Myrtle and his family unselfishly. He is survived by Myrtle his wife of 74 years, his children Alene Alexander, Bill and Jerry Cox, Leejoyce and Bill Mousner, Bob and Suzanne Cox, his grandchildren; Paula & Jerry Jackson, Randy & cara Alexander, Nancy Joyce, Mike Marshall, Linda & Steve Doede, Larry Cox, Tommy & Sandy Cox, Dorothy & Danny Williams, many great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and the family of friends at Four Seasons Nursing Home, Midwest City, who has cared for Bill & Myrtle lovingly for the past few years. Services will be at 11:00am Saturday, July 11, 1992 at the Carney Baptist Church with burial in Carney Cemetery, Carney, OK. Rev. Scott Stearman will officiate. RACHEL (Cox) Buncombe; Rachel Cox married William Grantham in February 1807 when he was only 16 years old. Rachel's base conduct "was better calculated to Destroy, than to ensure Conjugal happiness." After two years she eloped from his bed and board and proceeded to live licentiously. At present she is bound over in Lincoln County Superior Court to stand trial on a charge of murdering "one of her Spurious children". Neighbors of Grantham pray a divorce Susan Blackmon

SARAH (Beatty) Cox, d. 1921; Mrs. Sarah (Beatty) Cox age 80 years, widow of John R Cox, died at her home in Manorville Wednesday morning at 9:30 following a lingering illness of a complication of diseases. Her husband died in 1910. Mrs. Cox was the daughter of Alexander & Deborah McCoy Beatty who resided in Indiana County. She has been a resident of Manorville for a number of years and was held in high esteem by her friends and acquaintances. Mrs. Cox was the mother of thirteen children, twelve of whom survive. They are: Mrs. Henry (Laura) King, Home City, Mrs. Grant (Zettie) Walker of Brackenridge, Harry A Cox, Cleveland, William Cox, Rayburn Twp, Mrs. Harry (Arvilla) Shaul, Manorville, Ellen Cox, Kitanning, Mrs. Joseph (Nettie) Dunmire, Paintertown, John H Cox, Detroit, Roy and Thomas Cox, Youngstown, Mrs. (Dollie) Serene Manorville. Mrs. Cox was a member of the Manorville Methodist Episcopal Church. Funeral arrangements are not complete. d. June 29, 1921, burial in Kittaning Cemetery, Indiana County, PA
