Music

Music forms a large part of our church life. In addition to the regular use of the organ to play traditional style hymns we are, for a church of our size, very privalaged to have two music, worship groups.

The first of these, the Christianairs, provide the music for one service per month. In addition to playing hymns in a modern style they also use a selection of modern choruses and worship songs. Predominantly a performance group, but encouraging congregational participation, their instumental lineup consists of guitar, keyboard, clarinet, drums and a selection of singers.

The second, Sonny Side Up, were formed to provide music for use in evangelismn work and to also provide modern, lively music for other churches in the area. Cross Purposes organise one service per month, although they perform in other churches on a more regualar basis. Predominately oppertaing in a modern, youthful style, within a service they mainly provide music for congregartional worship songs. In addition, more recently, they have diversified in their range of skills also perfoming small drama sketches, incidental music to listen to, multimedia style presentation services to name but a few. Their full line up consists of guitar, flute, recorder, keyboards, drums, bass and piano although due to most of the members being students not everyone is availible during term-time.
