Note the following two Scriptures:
Romans 3:25 God presented him as a sacrifice of atonement, through faith in his blood. He did this to demonstrate his justice, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished
Romans 5:13 for before the law was given, sin was in the world. But sin is not taken into account when there is no law.
Divine tolerance of those outside the Mosaic covenant might shed light on a puzzling incident recorded in Scripture. After Namaan the Gentile was healed he declared that he would no longer offer sacrifices to any god except the true God. He then asked Elisha for permission to bow down in the temple of Rimmon when he is required to take his King there to worship. Surprisingly, Elisha gave his approval
(2 Kings 5:17-19).
