Trudy's Pedigree

|
Wildairs Enchantress, CDX
"Trudy",whelped May 17, 1979, out of Ch. Glenhi's Gunner and Ch. Belyn's Caprice, bred by Carolyn Bolch,
was definitely my husband, Ken's, dog, never liked to show, and so was worked in obedience
instead. Very willing to please, she earned her CD in three straight trials,
in Novice B, (we were showing Rufus in Novice A at the same time, and sometimes I had to
show both) with scores never below 189, and her CDX (all scores obtained by Ken) in five
trials with scores in the high 180s. A real crowd pleaser, she made the return over
the high jump with the dumbbell and the broad jump look like so much work and effort, she
always received resounding bouts of applause when she completed each successfully.
She also was a member of the Dog Obedience Club of Las Cruces Dog Drill Team (see left)
"Trudy" was
the dam of our first Champion, Am/Mex
Ch. Wildair's Doppleganger Belyn, and also produced Mex. Ch. Wildair's My Queen Guenever
("Yummy") out of Ch. BevLees Arthur C. Doyle, but, who, unfortunately, only obtained 4 American points before she was
badly frightened at a show and would never show again.
"Trudy" was
also our only hunting basset, being exceptionally
good on both Dove and Quail, flushing, working each
covey and retrieving, even from water. She even showed up some German Shorthaired Pointers
at one of their Fun Days when she was invited to work some of the remaining birds in the
spring traps. Making a beeline for the trap and the bird, instead of the standard Pointer
casting back and forth method, brought our pride and joy new respect from the Bird
Dog People. But was she ever mad when Ken "missed" the bird, giving him one of
the dirtiest looks known to dogdom!
We lost "Trudy" at the age of 10
to lymphosarcoma.
