Crafty Cat Craft Page

I have a few of my favorite craft projects all ready to share with you. I have never had to give intructions to anyone before though, so if it gets a little confusing please e-mail me and feel free to ask any question you may have. These are very simple ideas as my meowmie is just a beginner as well. All the ideas have a kitty theme! As always; Purrs to you!

Everyone has seen those purrpads that attract dander and hair and keep your kitty warm all at the same time. I have one and I love it. But my meowmie didn't spend 19.95 on mine, she made it herself, and it cost a lot less. Here's how:
PurrPad
What you'll need:
  • Quilt batting
  • cat nip spray (optional)
How to do it:
Cut four pieces of quilt batting, both 1 1/2 feet square and sew them all together, stacked on top of each other. I used a zigzag stitch all the way around so that there was no turning inside out involved and then there is a nice trim. Then you can spray it with catnip spray if you have any. It's that easy- vio-la! You have a PurrPad your cat will love!

We got this idea from the Feline Zine! If you get a chance you should go read it over! But you can make a snow globe real easy. You can even put a little kitty in it!
Snow Globe
What you'll need
  • Glass Jar with a lid
  • Any colored glitter or crushed egg shell
  • A tiny bit of mineral oil
  • A plastic figurine or your choice
  • Glue
How to do it:
First you will want to glue the figurine you chose to the underside of the lid. Make sure to let it dry all the way, preferably over night. Then put the glitter/eggshells in the jar, and then add water. You can add a drop or two of mineral oil to the water to make the glitter/eggshells fall slower, but it's up to you. Now screw the lid onto the jar just as tight as you can. You could even line the inside of the lid with glue. Shake it up-You now have a snow globe!!

My moewmie makes me catnip toys a lot. I usually chew them to bits, thats why meowmie says she doesn't buy them at the store. Here's how she does it, (this one's my favorite, it's a mouse!)
CatNip Mouse
What you'll need:
  • One 8x10 felt square (any color)plush or regular felt
  • Embroidery thread that matches the felt
  • A jingle bell
  • Cat nip
  • Glue and thread
  • Stuffing
How to do it:
First you will want to click here and get our pattern. You can just print that out if you'd like to. We aren't artists and you can improvise if you'd like to. But once you have the pattern, cut out the body of the mouse on a fold. So that the straight part of the mouse is on the fold. Then cut out two of the circles for ears. Once you have the pieces cut out, you will want to sew the mouse body together all the way except about an inch from the point on the nose. Now stuff your mouse and put some cat nip in there too! Now go ahead and sew the rest of the mouse up. Once that is done, you will want to glue the ears on. Fold the ears on the lines and glue them where ever you think the ears should go. Then cut a long piece of embroidery thread and tie the jingle bell to the end of it. Then glue or hand sew the tail to the mouses rear end. Let all the glue dry and you have wonderful catnip mouse to play with. Note: You can also leave the mouse inside the box or bag of catnip overnight. Then the smell will stay there longer and be stronger.
You can make a really neat toy that will keep your kitty occupied for hours. We don't know what to call it though. It's really easy to make, and really inexpensive too!
Cat Box
What you'll need:
  • Shoe Box (any size)
  • Hot Glue
  • Ping Pong Ball or Large Jingle Bell
How to do it:
First you will want to cut holes in the box. The holes have to be smaller than the ping pong ball or Large Jingle bell but big enough for kitty to fit her paws through. Then put the ping pong ball or Jingle bell in the box and glue the lid back on. Give it to your kitty. She will spend hours trying to get the ball/bell out of the box.
