A Child No More
by
Barbara Philbrook
A child no more,
you're becoming a man.
I must let you grow, I know I can.
I must trust in
the job that I've done,
while raising you my precious son.
I must trust
you've learned your lessons well,
and that one day you'll have tales to tell.
I must trust
that the lessons I've taught,
have given you the start they ought.
I must trust
that you are on the right track,
and that if you need me you'll come back.
I must have
faith that you know your heavenly Father,
if you don't your life will be much harder.
I must accept
the fact that you have grown,
and soon you will be going out on your own.
It is up to you
to prove me right,
and doing the best you can will be my delight.
A child no more,
a boyhood outgrown,
soon to be the best man I've ever known.
