Closer To Thee
by Barbara Philbrook

Lord I desire to know you more than any other,
closer than a child in the womb of it's mother.

I desire to walk through life's garden day by day,
hearing each and every word you say.

Lord I want to see the sights that make your eyes shine,
I want to know the beating of your heart as you know mine.

Enoch with whom you walked so lovingly,
never saw death, he was translated to join thee.

Abraham was favored and blessed with his son,
and his trust in you so great he'd have sacrifice that one.

Joseph was sold by his own into slavery,
but still he maintained his faith by believing in thee.

Moses speech was so defective, all heard as he spoke,
but still the red sea parted, this was no joke.

David slew a giant with one little rock,
and the psalms are filled with things about which he had to talk.

You are no respecter of persons, this is what my Bible has to say,
and the same closeness you had for others is available to us today.

"Seek diligently and you shall find",
Lord I seek you with all my heart soul and mind.

Teach me the way to walk close to you,
allow me to serve by all that I can do.

My heart thirsts like a man needing water to drink,
walking closer to you is about all I think.

Hear me Father answer my plea,
please allow me to walk closer to thee.
