Doom and Gloom
by Barbara Philbrook

Doom and gloom are what our weather forecasts hold today.
No one has anything good to say.

Forecasters who have been through many storms before,
have told us this one is the worst ever in store.

The predictions are horrible and sound as though there is no hope.
Anyone ignoring these is surely a dope.

There is nothing we can do once we've tied everything down.
We aren't even sure our home will still be around.

Gather your possessions and put them in the car,
but where can we go it is going to reach out so far.

The storm is wider than the whole state.
Where can we go till the winds abate?

We've got pets we can't leave all alone.
Why we don't even own a working cell phone.

If we let the things being said give us fright.
We wouldn't even be able to sleep through the night.

I've determined Dear Father to put my trust in You,
and that You will watch over us as you have promised to.

We'll of course heed any warnings and go when we must,
but it is in You, Dear Father, I am going to trust.

Doom and gloom and warnings of peril are being heard,
but I am holding onto the promises in Your Holy Word.
