The Fourth of July
by Barbara Philbrook

The fourth of July we remember fallen soldiers of the past,
they are the reason our freedoms last.

They fought to maintain our right for liberty,
they gave up their lives for you and me.

We have freedom of speech and to bare arms,
and we can worship our God without fear of harm.

We must retain the rights they died to protect,
I'm sure this is what they would expect.

In our appreciation and our fervent zeal,
we must keep in mind what is very real.

There was another sacrifice made for you and me,
one that gave us another liberty.

The right to choose eternal life if we desire,
instead of burning in the lake of fire.

So as you remember the fallen soldiers today,
let's remember our Savior and the price He paid.
