How Can I Know?
by Barbara Philbrook

How can I know God if this is my idea or something I wish to do,
or if it is an instruction given to me from you?

At times I've cried out  in desperation to you,
and your response was so clear that  I never doubted  it was an answer nor that it was true.

Each day I start off  yielding Lord to you,
I ask for your guidance in all that I do.

I pray that any thought deed or action done by me,
will bring Honor and Glory Precious Lord to thee.

My question then Lord that I'm here to ask of you,
"how do I tell if a thought I have is mine or if it is something you wish for me to do?"

Here is the criteria  by which one can measure each and every task,
Is it something that will please God is the first thing to ask.

Is this action one that will bring Honor and Glory to God or to you?
Or is it something that will get others to accept their salvation as God desires them to?

As you reveal your walk with God is it to bring Hope to another who suffers too,
or is this just a pity party drawing others to sympathize with you?

Does the direction you are considering coincide with God's Holy Word?
Or is the action you are considering one that could cause an others vision to be blurred?

If each and every one of these criteria are filled in such a way,
that Honor  and Glory will be brought to the Lord today.

You may go about your work assured in a confident way,
knowing that indeed the Lord heard you this morning as you knelt before him to pray.
