I Need You Father
by Barbara Philbrook

I need You Father to help me to learn,
please open my mind and help me Thy truths to discern.

Learning the truth must be done step by step,
when one knew nothing to begin with the truth has great depth.

One step at a time is how we've been going,
and Lord I thank You for each truth to me You've been showing.

I have enjoyed the journey on which we've tread,
but sometimes the new knowledge gets jumbled in my head.

Now I know this is caused by imperfections in me,
and I pray You'll clear them up so I can see.

I want to be all that You intend,
I want to be a servant on whom You can depend.

I want to meet each and every expectation,
and understand each new revelation.

This would be impossible on my own,
the truth of this fact I have already been shown.

So help me Father to submit my mind to You,
that You can help me to recognize what is true.

Help me not to be swayed off course by man,
help me to become for You all that I can.

Help me to recognise and devour Your truth,
the course I've been set on since early youth.

Help me to remember it is You I serve,
and if I daily surrender I will not swerve.

Give me the wisdom to lean on Your strength not my own,
just as the Holy Word has shown.

When I stumble help me back to my feet,
remind me that with Your help all trials I will defeat.

I need You Father more and more every day,
and that I never forget my need is what I pray.
