Promises
by Barbara Philbrook

Promises are vows that someone else makes to you,
giving their word of something they will do.

God has made promises to cover our every need,
you can lay claim to them and then with your thanks proceed.

You know you will be getting your answer there is no doubt,
God made the promise and He will carry it out.

There are promises to cover anger, gossip, pride and trust,
ones covering guilt, lying, shame and lust.

Promises to provide food and clothing,
a promise to feel love for others not loathing.

Promises to help you know you are forgiven of sin,
and ones to prevent self righteousness from moving in.

Promises so I will live my life honestly,
and even God's promise to give me humility.

Promises to give faith and to overcome fear,
and promises that the Holy Spirit is always near.

Courage, contentment and comfort all three,
and of course there is the ever famous one know as Charity.

Promises to grow in grace, hope and joy,
and one to overcome laziness so others we don't annoy.

Sickness, loneliness, righteousness and success,
each of these has it's own degree of happiness.

There are others more than I've named here,
God wants you to seek in the Bible you'll find them in there.

Promises, all made for and available to you,
call on God then believe to receive is all that you do.
