Our Relationship
by Barbara Philbrook

Our relationship must be based on what I tell you not on what you think you see,
I have given you the gift of faith and that is the way I meant it to be.

Faith is the belief in things hoped for the evidence of things not seen,
and I expect that our relationship be on my terms not on what other gifts you glean.

I sent my Holy Spirit to draw you close to my heart,
I've shown you how much I love you and have promised that I shall never depart.

Being loved unconditionally was your deepest most dire need,
and I've given that and so much more to you and yet I so often hear you  as you cry and plead.

You worry  that there is some special gift you are lacking one more gift you must get,
that you will somehow fall short and not measure up if your request is not met.

How can I convince you that you must take me at my word,
the need that you think that you have is absolutely absurd.

Jesus is the way that deliverance is received by  man,
this is the purpose behind the making of the salvation plan.

Salvation is a gift it is offered absolutely  for free,
our relationship is the association the closeness that is developed between you and me.

Can you trust can you take me at my word,
can our relationship be developed on the faith I've provided you or does it have to be proved by things you have heard.

Our relationship that which transpires way deep in your heart where no one else can see,
is something that is personal and private something between you and me.

There's no need to prove it's existence nor for you to tell others what we share,
but you may  reveal it's existence so that others may  know how deeply  and sincerely I care.
