For A Season
by Barbara Philbrook

The trees are bare, new leaves will appear next spring,
reminding me that life too is a similar thing.

We are alive for a season and then laid to rest,
but will be raised up by Jesus to receive His best.

Just as the leaves on the trees have jobs to do,
God also has His personal uses for me and you .

The leaves provide shade from the hot rays of the sun,
they nestle the fledgelings in their nests each little one.

They are food for some of God's creatures to eat,
they even hide clubhouses where youngsters can meet.

Did you know that when all of a tree's leaves are upside down,
that you can count on a storm coming to town.

They are perches for birds needing rest during flight,
and a place for hiding from predators in the night.

Shelter from the rain during a summer shower,
who ever thought a leaf had so much power.

No matter how insignificant your life may seem to you,
God can find something for you to do.

Submit yourself, surrender today,
God will use you in a wonderful way.

After you've been here for a season and have gone home to stay,
you'll see how God used you in His own special way.
