Thirty Extra Days
by Barbara Philbrook

Joe's gone home now to stay,
he was summoned by his heavenly Father yesterday.

Home where there is no pain nor sorrow,
home where he's guaranteed a beautiful tomorrow.

Home where there is nothing but happiness,
where everything happening causes eternal bliss.

Home where the lion and lamb lay side by side,
home where nothing happens one can not abide.

Nothing to dread, nothing to fear,
never again having a regret nor having to shed a tear.

Joe is home now but we were blessed in various ways,
you see we were given thirty extra days.

One more moment is the thing for which I'd pray,
is what I've heard people who've lost a loved one say.

Often this is heard when someone has passed through death's door,
well Joe's family was given that and so much more.

Thirty extra days since the doctor planned to unplug his machine,
thirty days since his beautiful smile was seen.

Thirty days to say all that was there in their heart,
thirty extra days till at last Joe was to depart.

Oh what a marvelous God we serve,
to give us so much more than we deserve.

Thank You Father for the thirty extra days,
thank You for showing us Your love in so many ways.
