To God Goes the Glory
by Barbara Philbrook

To God goes the  glory for the great things He has done,
I've claimed so many of the promises in His Word and He has answered each one.

Now this alone is not a miracle it's exactly what we are taught,
if we surrender ourselves and believe as we ask He'll answer  any request we've brought.

God showed me these truths in his word and gave me the faith it required for me to believe,
and I  tell you the blessings he's given me  are a joy for me to receive.

I've known there was a God since I was but a child,
I had foolishly tried to be good enough to earn what  was offered freely and he just lovingly smiled.

Then when the world as I knew it seemed to be caving in,
as loved ones died and left me and I saw that I was hopelessly lost in sin.

I gave up trying to be good and surrendered  that very day,
then he opened my eyes that I could see He was the potter and I was but clay.

Though I'd been reading His Word for over a quarter of a century,
it wasn't until I completely surrendered that God opened my eyes that I might see.

He showed me so clearly that salvation cannot be earned nor can it be bought,
and that is exactly what I'd been trying to do since I was but a tot..

Now God knowing that I in my attempt to be perfect had made my husband and children my priority, clearly he spoke and said " choose them or me?"

You see I not only thought I was responsible for my salvation but for those who meant the world to me, what a relief it is to realize that no one must earn salvation it's offered  absolutely for free.

I " let go and let God" and trusted every word He has said,
I can tell you now that come what may I need not worry I just trust in Him instead.

Yes to God be the Glory great things He has done,
my loved ones will all be there Jesus died that they may live each and every one.

Thank You Father for allowing me to see,
that each of  them are reaching out to accept your gift  of eternity.
