With Arms Opened Wide
by Barbara Philbrook

With arms opened wide Jesus hung on the cross,
just so you and I need not be lost.

Arms extended as He took on our sin,
while He asked His Father to forgive what was done to Him.

Seeking even in suffering what He came to achieve,
and that being the burden of our sins to relieve.

With arms opened wide as He hung so piteously,
Jesus paid the price so we'd live for eternity.

Having lived a life free of all sin,
willing to die so the Plan Of Salvation could begin.

Having been betrayed and publicly persecuted,
then ridiculed and so cruelly executed.

They gambled for the garments He'd once worn,
while they tormented Him in hateful scorn.

Buried in a borrowed grave, covered by a stone,
our blessed Savior who so much love had shown.

Three days later He'd risen to win the victory,
now all who believe will live for eternity.

Sitting on the right hand of God the Father,
encouraging all  to seek the lost a little harder.

When we arrive in Heaven what will we see?
Jesus with arms opened wide to greet you and me!
