!William's family came to Ohio from Kentucky about 1804. The "History of Grundy Co., Missouri" states that he was elected justice of the peace for Franklin township 19 June 1841. He and his brother Charles were among the early settlers who came to Grundy Co. in Spring of 1839. The first religious services were conducted by a methodist circuit rider at the homes of David Ashbrook and William Schooler. Among the first members of the Methodist Episcopal Church were William and Mary Schooler.
