!Joseph moved with his parents to Preble Co., Ohio. In the fall of 1830 they moved to Elkhart Co., Indiana, which was then a new country. While residents of this county, Joseph held the office of county commissioner and Justice of the Peace. Then after marrying Elizabeth Thomas, he moved his family to Wapello Co., Iowa in 1843. In a history of Agency township, Wapello Co., it mentions the first birth in the township was Elbridge D. Myers in 1844, the youngest son of Joseph and Elizabeth. The first marriage ceremony performed in Agency was Eli Myers and Perlina Grigsby.
