!Oren was born 5 days before my 5th birthday, so I always considered him as a birthday present. He was born without a roof in his mouth and had trouble talking for the first few years of his life. That made school very hard for him all of his life. But if you gave him something to do with his hands or asked him to sing or play an instrument he would excel. His Senior year in High School, I had just returned home to La Grande, Oregon from the Navy, when our father was given to opportunity for a great career advancement in Yakima, Washington. They felt it would be very difficult for him to change schools four months before graduation, so we found an apartment together and I helped him finish that last four months of school. Shortly after graduating, he went into the service. !MILITARY:U.S. Army !DEATH:Oren was killed in a car wreck while serving in the U.S. Army.
