!Mary was a twin, but her twin sister only lived about 8-9 months. She was quite young when her father moved the family from Hagerman, Idaho to La Grande, Oregon. Mary had the family talent for music and had a wonderful singing voice. She was also a talented artist and I remember her trying to teach me how to draw simple pictures, but she didn't have much luck. (I don't have much talent in that area.) She had health problems and had surgery a great many times in her life.
