MY FIRST BORN
My First Born
So special was the moment
That you entered into the world,
There would be no more guessing
If you were a boy or a girl.

This precious little person
So perfect in every way,
The excitement was overwhelming
The highlight of my day.

No longer were my wants important
But what you would be needing,
Love, hugs, diaper changes
Oh yeah, those midnight feedings.

I admit it was a challenge
But I had to fill the part,
Of caring for and raising
This little boy that had stolen my heart.

The time was going fast
How quickly you had grown,
Taking in your surroundings
With a personality all your own.

Before I knew it, it was the teen years
Loaded with peer pressure and all,
The temptations of growing up
Trying to make the right calls.

A fine young man you've come to be
Both sensitive and understanding,
Fitting well into "The Real World"
Which can sometimes be demanding.

How proud you've made of us you
And the choices that you've made,
To be a better person
To try and make the grade.

I hope you stay the way that you are
So simple but yet so free,
To contribute to society
Your own philosophy.

Getting ready to take your place in the world.
Remember what we've taught you. And you won't
have any problems. But knowing isn't good enough.
You have to use the knowledge and wisdom that
you have.
