You are listening to"At Jesus' Feet"

April 2000

The followers of Jesus did not wait at the tomb.  It would appear that they did not expect a great event to take place.  He said He would return in three days, but they failed to understand just what that meant because they were caught up in their own despair and sorrow.

As the women went toward the tomb that morning, their minds were filled with the problems they were facing.  Who would move the great heavy stone in front of the opening?  That was one of the questions going through their minds.

They were typical people in many ways.  We go along looking at our problems, the ones we have and the ones we expect to find, failing to realize that God already has them under control.

Mary found the tomb not to be a place of death, but a place of life.  She found the tomb to be a place of hope and not of despair.  For her it was to be a place where she found comfort, "Be not afraid!" She found it to be a place of hope because the stone was rolled away and the resurrection of Christ a fact, not a promise.  Because He lives, we shall live also!

It was at the tomb that Mary found new power and new zeal for a worldwide task.  She started by telling those she knew all about what had taken place.

We must start to roll away the stone which hides our Savior from the world by telling other what we saw when we gave our own hearts to Christ!  We must tell how we felt when His love came to fill our empty lives with hope and joy.  Most of all we must show the change in our own lives by the way we live each day.

If Christ had not come forth from the tomb we would indeed live hopeless lives, but instead we live in hope of a great resurrection day.  Jesus talked of his coming death to the disciples but He also talked of the coming resurrection.  They go together.

Why not worship the Resurrected Christ each Sunday - He will be there waiting.

Until next month - Have a Happy Easter!
